Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
